King Tut's Burial Chamber
The burial chamber of King Tut is the grandest room within the entire tomb. This room was colored a bright yellow with different pictures of Tut. The murals on the wall are believed to be purposely made large enough to cover the walls of the tomb quickly. The other tombs have more detailed paintings, and many more of them. When comparing KV62 to other sites, it leads many historians to believe the tomb burial was rushed.
The burial chamber had a series of decorated wooden shrines which nearly filled the room. Next to the shrines Carter found containers for perfume and paddles for a solar boat.
The outmost sarcophagus was made from two slightly different blocks of granite. At each corner a statue of Isis, Nephthys, Serqet and Neith protected the body of the king. Inside the sarcophagus a further three sarcophagi enclose the body of Tutankhamun, the innermost is made of 110.4 kg of pure gold. Inside the last sarcophagus is the mummy of Tutankhamun, wearing the funeral mask made of gold, lapis, lazuli, carnelian, quartz, obsidian, turquoise and glass. This mask is synonymous with ancient egypt and the pharaohs.
While there weren't as many artifacts, the room was arguably the greatest Egyptian discovery.
